● Clear Magazine for your AK47; A Quick review:

This Clear Promag magazine is sort of like those clear stripper heels. Its cool in a trashy type of way.  Aside from the novelty factor, there is very real benefit to be able to glance down and see how many 7.62 x 39 rounds remain.

My evaluation: The magazine was a total failure. During the test I experienced multiple failures to feed. Originally I believed the problems occurred because they put a very weak spring in this magazine and it did not provide enough pressure to push the round up into the breech but after swapping out the spring with a known good magazine (made by tapco) the clear magazine still had multiple failures to feed.  I believe the magazine design itself is the problem due to the incorrect molding of the lips.

The AK47 rifle and the Glock pistol.  Is there a more complimentary pairing? Both have a reputation for rugged and unwavering reliability. Both are powerful and formidable weapons. The Glock and the Izhmash Saiga AK47 are easily maintained and can be field stripped, cleaned and returned to service in minutes. (Both will continue to operate after many hours of operation and abuse) Both are known to strike fear into the hearts of good guys and bad guys alike.

Kate Upton carries a Glock

Super Model Actress, Kate Upton recently revealed she carries a Glock product almost everywhere she goes.  I'm guessing she used the word "almost" because she cant carry a concealed gun while doing one of her amazing and sexy bikini photo shoots.  She said she likes the Glock 27 G27,  because Bruce Willis uses a forty caliber pistols in many of his films.  Is that true?  I don't know for sure but in Die Hard 4 Bruce used a PX4 Storm .40 which is not a Glock product but Beretta; not a bad gun.   Kate went on to say the Glock 27 is very small but she likes the power of the .40 S&W cartridge.  (i wonder if her acting coach gave her those lines)  I hope not!

What is the best holster for IWB concealed carry?

What is an I.W.B. Concealed Carry Holster?  It's a holster which is designed to ride "Inside the WaistBand".  There are many different types of IWB holsters available.  This is review of the Softarmor IWB holster.  It consists of a single pouch and metal clip with clips to the outside of the belt.  The type of holster is sometimes called a clip-on.  The clip can be removed and placed on the other side of the holster to offer flexibility for right or left handed shooters.   
*The clip can also be removed completely and the holster can ride in the pocket of cargo shorts or pants.

The holster pouch is made from a padded, layered, nylon canvas material.  It is very sturdy yet very comfortable.

In these photos I'm carrying the Glock 36 Subcompact .45 in the holster.  The size 16
 holster is the perfect size for the Glock 36.

In the photo above the Glock 36 is shown riding in a Softarmor IWB holster with an extended grip magazine.  While the extended grip provides more to hold on to, it also increase the form factor size of the gun.   It is a trade off which should be considered and determined by the outer layer garment.   If printing is a problem then reduce the form factor by carrying the G36 with the standard magazine shown below.

● Tulammo Brass Max is on the shelves!

At the time of this writing, Tulammo has not said anything official about this new product brand.  So far all anyone knows is what can be read on the box.   Brass Max is Tulammo's new line of brass case ammo.  It is manufactured in Italy.  It is known to be produced in all popular pistol calibers including-- .45 ACP .40S&W, 9mm Luger and .380.  

I picked up box yesterday.  The brass cartridges and bullets seem to be polished and bright similar to Federal ammo in the same price range.  Hopefully I will have the opportunity to test the new Brass Max at the range sometime soon and share my full review.

More on the new Glock 30S

 During SHOT Show 2013, Glock unveiled their newest addition to their .45 ACP line – the Glock 30S. Built off the 30SF frame, the Glock 30S features the double stack capacity of the previous .45 models – 10 rounds in a standard size magazine (although, mags from the full size Glock 21 will also fit the Glock 30S). But, the slide of the 30S has been slimmed, which makes it more convenient for concealed carry, and also shaves off some of the weight.

The 30S design was developed in conjunction with the LAPD’s Special Investigation Section (SIS) to produce a .45 that would serve well for concealed carry without sacrificing caliber. To this aim, Glock has retained their standard accessory rail (for lights, lasers, etc.). And, although it is a subcompact pistol with a short grip, the Glock 30S ships with pinky extender mags. That feature provides the increased grip control that a full-size grip aids. The grip itself also features front and backstrap checkering to increase grip functionality.
The Glock 30S has already been sent to distributors. Fans of the polymer .45 should be able to get their hands on one for around $599.

Glock .45s - The best of both worlds

The Glock 21SF and Glock 36 -- The perfect combination for personal protection?

There are many schools of thought related to the best caliber for self defense.  Some will tell you the .380 .38 or 9mm is best because it is a smaller and lighter cartridge and therefore it makes the gun lighter to carry.  Others will tell you any pistol round is inadequate so it's best to use the biggest practical bullet for personal defense.  The discussion will then take vectors in the topics of recoil, accuracy, magazine capacity and eventually settle on the "stopping power" argument.  Someone will say, "I carry the .45 ACP because bigger bullets make bigger holes and bigger holes means better stopping power versus a bad guy."   For those who follow this logic Glock has you covered! 

When given a choice, many law enforcement officers will choose to carry the Glock 21SF.  The G21SF is a standard frame 45 caliber workhorse which has a capacity of 13+1.  Law enforcement officers who purchase their own duty gun are eligible for the Glock's Blue Label package.   The Blue Label package include a handgun with night sights and 3 magazines at discounted price.  No cop ever wants to use his gun but if needed he or she will have 40 rounds of .45 ACP available if needed.

What about this Glock 36?  Why does it seem to be least known of all the Glock pistols yet it seems to offer the best features for concealed carry?  Going back to the philosophy which states "bigger bullets make bigger holes", why don't more people look at the 45 Caliber Glock 36 for IWB (inside the waistband carry) or pocket holster carry?  The G36 is the only single stack Glock in the entire product line.  This means it is also the thinnest of all Glock pistols.  The G36 is light and nimble yet offers the punch of a .45 ACP.

The Hi Point Carbine is and excellent value with a current list of price of just $285.  Hi Point rifles are available in standard pistol ammo calibers -- 9mm .40 S&W and .45 ACP.  The 9mm Hi Point 995TS model is shown here.  It comes standard with a magazine capacity of 10 rounds. Larger capacity of magazines are available from ProMag.  
One thing I really like about the 995TS is that it comes with multiple rails.  The bad boy has rails everywhere!  It's ready accessory ready right out of the box!  It has a lower rail which is perfect for adding a forward grip.  The front rail mounted under the barrel, can be used for light, laser or bayonet. The top rail is perfect for mounting optics.  This gun is a joy to shoot.  It is accurate and reliable.

The Glock 36 - 45 Caliber Conceal Carry Excellence

Glock classifies the G36 as a subcompact.  It has a capacity of 6+1 or 7+1 (when a +1 grip extender is used).  For self defense purposes it wise to have at least one extra magazine on you which gives you 14 rounds. 

This handgun packs the 45 caliber punch and it is Glock's only single stack magazine firearm. The G36 is also the thinnest of all Glock pistols.  The Glock 36 excels in concealed carry mode due to it's thin form factor.  The G36 is also lighter than the G30SF which makes it much more suitable for IWB or pocket carry than the G30SF. 

The Glock 36 is considered a Gen 3 product but it comes standard with the two stage mainspring which is typical of Gen 4 Glocks.  Why has Glock not produced a Gen 4 Glock 36?  Because they would be hard pressed to improve this perfect conceal carry 45 caliber pistol.

The G36 is my personal favorite for CC purposes.  It has a capacity which is similar to a 1911 but it offers Glock reliability and super easy maintenance.
